Meet Your Teacher

Carrie Smith

I grew up in Calvert County as a child. I attended Mt. Harmony Elementary, Northern Middle, and graduated from Northern High School. I graduated from Bowie State College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. I taught 1st grade at Patuxent Elementary for one year. After that, I transferred to Beach Elementary (closer to home) and taught 1st grade for three more years. Then, I became a Title One Teacher for 1st and 2nd graders in which I worked with them in the areas of reading and math. I was a Title One Teacher for 5 years. I went back in the classroom and taught first grade again for four more years. I then went to third grade for three years, and this is my fourth year in this grade!  I have taught for 19 years and still love it!!
I have three wonderful children, Guy, Suzy, and Kailey. My son, Guy is out of college and working full time.  He is recently engaged to his fiance Kara and they plan on getting married in a year. Suzy is a freshman at Lenoir-Rhyne University in North Carolina.  She plans on majoring in Criminal Justice.  Kailey is a 10th grader at Huntingtown High.  My husband, Guy teaches PE at Huntingtown High School and is also the baseball coach there. We have a dog named Rookie and a cat named Wrigley.

All year round you will find me at some sporting event. My son plays men's softball. Suzy plays  lacrosse at Lenoir-Rhyne.  Kailey plays volleyball and softball for HHS and is  on a travel softball team, Fury.
My favorite activities are spending time with my family and friends by swimming in the pool, going out on the boat, and relaxing on the beach in Ocean City.
